ARE YOU "FOR REAL" IN REGARDS TO RE-ESTABLISHING OUR INDEPENDENCE? IF SO, DEMAND A GLYNDŴR DAY BANK HOLIDAY FOR SEPT 16TH TO CELEBRATE THAT DATE IN 1400 WHEN TYWYSOG OWAIN GLYNDŴR COMMENCED ON HIS GREAT WAR OF INDEPENDENCE. THAT STRUGGLE CONTINUES!

 

I tried to launch a petition in the year 2000 and again last year to collect signatures for a Cymric Bank Holiday for Sept 16th. to note and celebrate the dawning of Owain Glyndŵr's Great War of Independence. When, I attempted to launch the petition in the year 2000, it was an appeal to the what was then the Welsh Assembly so, I was not really surprised when my appeal was denied as the Welsh Assembly was known to have limited powers then but, once the establishment had been granted a 'Senedd' status with, supposed to be, more powers, I perceived wrongly, that surely the Senedd' would now have the powers to establish bank holidays in Cymru but no! Apparently, we are the only 'supposed to be devolved' nation within the U.K.. that has NOT got the powers to do so1 The reply I had from Bae Caerdydd was a resounding 'NO', I could not go ahead with the petition as they, our Senedd, did not have the authority to establish Bank Holidays, that only the British London Government has that authority!

So, the question is, again, poised, what kind of 'Senedd' have we got? the answer is...obviously a toothless one when it comes to such important matters, so what hope is there for Independence without an 'all out fight' for it?

Apparently, Gwynedd Council has now decided to just go ahead and have an extra Bank Holiday on Dydd Gŵyl Dewi where all their employees  have an official day off and, whereas, we must congratulate Gwynedd Council for this commendable autonomous action, we must recognise and understand that a Dydd Gŵyl Dewi bank holiday is going to do very little for the cause of Independence, in fact, it will be a great hindrance to the cause as it will, as it always does, encourage the displaying of the 'Tudor Rag' throughout our nation, the rag that galvanizes the union of Cymru with England and the rag that is flown to welcome the English royals on their regular visits into Cymru to constantly remind us that we are subjected people of a nation that has been pillaged and algamated into their British empire. 

In this year of, yet again, an English royal Jubilee, we will be drowned in the drapings and the pomp and pageantry of the British State and its royalty so, would it not have been more appropriate for a Plaid Cymru led council, a party now claiming to be endeavoring to re-enstate Cymric Independence to have declared that they would be honouring Tywysog Owain Glyndŵr and his Great War of Independence  (still in continua) by opting for a Dydd Glyndŵr Bank Holiday and would it not be more appropriate for Gwynedd County, Council, and all other councils in Cymru to be encouraging schools under their jurisdiction to fly the Owain Glyndwr flag rather than the 'Tudor Rag', the flag of the English Tudor kings?

Also, Gwynedd County Council, more so than any other County Council in Cymru should should not forget how Cymru was systematically robbed of its Independence status and how the struggle came to an end with the cruel murders of the Princes of the Royal House of Gwynedd, and the incarceration of their families in English dungeons and nunneries, until they died of starvation or, in the case of the imprisoned women, obscurity and then their ultimate death in a foreign land. 

That is the shameful legacy that allows the British State to make use of their 'royal puppets' to trespass all over our nation today as a synical tool to keep us forged to their U.K. so, what should have priority as our most important bank holiday. A St David's Day which will see Cymru covered in 'Tudor Rags and 'fake' symbols such as paper leeks and blow up daffodils? or, A Dydd Glyndŵr Bank Holiday for Sept 16 with our nation covered in Glyndŵr flags which will send the message out to the British State loud and clear...WE ARE PROUD CYMRY AND WE ARE STILL FIGHTING FOR OUR INDEPENDENCE.

 Amongst the ephemera for this year's Platinum Jubilee is a Dydd Gŵyl Dewi flag with the Platinum Jubilee symbol on it - just to keep us all on board and ready for the celebrations as 'British citizens' see pic below:   

No doubt,  Tudor rags with the same symbol will soon appear! 

So, as well as call on our Senedd and all Councils to designate Dydd Owain Glyndŵr as an annual Public Holiday, we call on all workers throughout Cymru to just take a day off on the 16th Sept annually as a means of designating and establishing our own Bank holiday. To hell with the English Government in London! Let's be Independent by acting as an Independent nation and people from now on - starting now! If we don't, then forget Independence, if we cannot do this much, Independence will never be achieved, that ship will have long left the harbour and will have sunk for good! so, it will be best to remain silent on the issue than to forever 'bullshit'  about it on fb! and the like.

We also propose that Gwynedd County Council should seriously consider erecting a memorial on the National Trust area of Abergwyngregyn to commemorate Llywelyn and Dafydd ap Gruffydd and their families and the last stand made on Bera Mawr which led to the end of the royal dynasty of Gwynedd and with it, Cymric Independence. The embroidered massive Glyndŵr flag in the pic below was presented to the National Assembly at a Civic Reception by Llysgenhadaeth Glyndŵr in 2001. It was sponsored by Castle Crafts, Caerdydd and was presented by Alcwyn ap Gwynfor, Dr Gwynfor Evans's son on behalf of his father who was the Honary President of Llysgenhadaeth Glyndwr at the time. The flag was accepted on behalf of the Assembly by Dafydd Elis Thomas who was presiding officer at the time and he promised that the flag would be flown above the Assembly building annually on Dydd Glyndŵr - Sept 16th. Can somebody please inform us if this promise has been kept?
