I tried to launch a petition in the year 2000 and again last year to collect signatures for a Cymric Bank Holiday for Sept 16th. to note and celebrate the dawning of Owain Glyndŵr's Great War of Independence. When, I attempted to launch the petition in the year 2000, it was an appeal to the what was then the Welsh Assembly so, I was not really surprised when my appeal was denied as the Welsh Assembly was known to have limited powers then but, once the establishment had been granted a 'Senedd' status with, supposed to be, more powers, I perceived wrongly, that surely the Senedd' would now have the powers to establish bank holidays in Cymru but no! Apparently, we are the only 'supposed to be devolved' nation within the U.K.. that has NOT got the powers to do so1 The reply I had from Bae Caerdydd was a resounding 'NO', I could not go ahead with the petition as they, our Senedd, did not have the authority to establish Bank Holidays, that only the British L...
